Labour's Invisible Man
A record of shame Bradford East is his second choice. Having lost in Bradford West where he lives, Labour stopped him from standing there again. He still represents Toller Ward on Bradford Council. As a Toller Councillor he is part of the Labour Group who pay themselves more than £1 million in expenses. Labour voted to cut Council Tax benefit which means the poorest families in Bradford now have to pay Council Tax. As a Labour Councillor he has wasted millions on failed projects at the same time as cutting the amount of money available to support Community Centres. Why I am standing as an Independent
"You know, sometimes you just have to do what you think is the right thing. I've been punished by my own party for speaking out on controversial issues, Palestine and what the Isrealis are doing and many people know about these things, but it's actually quite tough when you're willing to speak out about them. I've decided that I want to carry on representing you as I did before and being able to speak out on controversial issues, free of any party control. So I am standing as an independent candidate in this general election to be your MP, your independent MP so I can continue to fight on strong issues, issues that are controversial, but also for Bradford, because I want to be able to vote on every single issue in the House of Commons on what is right for Bradford. And so I want to be your MP, here not anywhere else, here in Bradford East, where I live, where my family is, where my future is and where I want to be part of your future." Continue reading

He also published a report into the social care crisis called "Reforming Social Care: Voices from Bradford East". Speaking about this social care report, David said: "The thing that I am most proud of is that this research was a real joint effort with fantastic local contributions. It was crucial that Bradfordians were aware of the social care reforms, but more importantly that they had an opportunity to contribute to the leglislation". Now, for the upcoming General Election, David has developed his new Manifesto for Bradford East: Continue reading
