Primary Schools Go Green
Bradford North Area Committee has allocated £36,000 to twelve primary schools to help them take part an environmental project with Be Involved. The projects would create outdoor learning areas that contribute to curriculum development and provide opportunities for young people to learn about a range of issues from healthy eating to science.
Be Involved works with neighbourhood planning, community and voluntary organisations,
social enterprises and schools to identify projects where business support can make the
difference.
Cllr David Ward, chair of the Bradford North Area Committee said,
" There has been a very successful environmental project at Swain House Primary School and we want to extend this to twelve further primary schools. The total project cost for each school is £12,000. The Area Committee is putting up £3000. and the school must find £3000. The balance will come from Northern Green Networks and businesses who can donate materials or volunteers.
This is a very exciting project which will improve the environment of the school and create long-lasting partnerships between schools, businesses and the local community
Broadly each school will receive:
· Project planning support from Be Involved
· School Grounds design supported by volunteering from Bradford Council and expertise from Bradford Community Environment Project
· Volunteers and financial support from larger businesses
· Financial support and partnership development support from Bradford North Area
· Committee and the Neighbourhood Support Service
· Donations and Materials from business
· Habit Heroes resource pack and education programmes through Bradford Community Environment Project
