David Ward with the Birk Hill campaigners
Councillor David ward is celebrating victory following the Council's U-turn over fencing at Birk Hill.
Workmen had sparked anger when they started to erect a fence round the recreation ground so that animals could be grazed there. Local residents said that the area had been used for recreation for more than 40 years.
Councillor Ward said,
" We have managed to get an agreement that grazing on this land would be inappropriate and incompatible with recreational use of the land. "
