Bradford North Area Committee us holding a hearing on Young People and Unemployment' to help inform its Area Action Plan on Friday November 27th at Bradford City Football Ground between 9.15 am and 1 pm.
Invitations have been sent to people who are actively involved in planning for and working with young people within the Bradford North Area, inviting them to contribute. Over twenty organisations have accepted, six will be making presentations, followed by workshops.
Councillor David Ward, the chair of the Committee said,
" We are interested in hearing in detail from individuals and groups who are involved in helping young people find work. We hope they will be able to help us:
• Understand better the barriers and challenges young people face in accessing learning and training opportunities and progressing from these into employment.
• Explore the challenges statutory and third sector organisations experience in delivering services for young people.
• Provide an opportunity for creative discussion about ways to tackle any issues identified through the Hearing, which would make a real difference to local people.
• Explore what good practice and innovation is already happening and support extending this work across the Area.
• Assist in identifying actions that will go into the new Bradford North Area Committee Action Plan 2009 - 2011.
• Explore links and potential links between opportunities in the constituency, district and region and actions that could help young people make the most of these opportunities.
Our Area committee Action plans will be based on the priority actions that are identified through a series of Hearings of which this is the latest."
