Local campaigners are delighted that improvements on a 'death trap' road have been finally given the go ahead.
A flash warning sign is to be installed on Bolton Road. Bolton and Undercliffe Councillor Howard Middleton said he was delighted that improvements were at last on their way.
He said: "We missed out on speed cameras. Apparently we've not had enough casualties despite the fatalities, but we are relieved to be getting the electric sign on such a dangerous bend and for the other improvements."
In addition to the sign Engineers are planning to alter the white lines in the road and make it easier for residents to park outside their homes.
The flash warning sign was first promised in 2006, but a Council spokesman said highways officers would not want to comment on why it had taken so long to install the device.
