Local Manifesto Launch

A fair future for Bradford

The Bradford Liberal Democrats launched on Monday their election manifesto, fighting for "residents to have the greatest possible freedom over their own lives and for inequality between rich and poor to be reduced". Education will be the key to achieving this.

Group leader Jeanette Sunderland said the Lib Dems' main priorities are to identify and tackle child poverty and target extra money to schools "where deprivation affects achievement."

With no single party likely to gain overall control of the Council it is necessary for parties to work together for the good of the district, something the Labour group refuses to do. Cllr. Sunderland promised that "if people vote Lib Dem, they will get Lib Dem. I think we are working the hardest to resolve some of the massive inequalities there are in the district."

Nick Clegg will today launch the national manifesto, promising change that works for you. The Liberal Democrats want to create a fairer tax system, provide fairer education, build a fair sustainable economy and introduce fair political representation.
