David Ward MP has questioned the Business Secretary, Vince Cable, on the Government's strategy for jobs in Bradford.
Commenting, David Ward said:
"I support the Government's agenda of rebalancing Britain's economy away from growth centred on financial services and the South East. There are some very welcome national schemes to achieve this such as regional National Insurance holidays for businesses, and the £1.4 billion Regional Growth Fund.
"But there needs to be a strategy alongside this, tailored to kick start private sector growth in areas like Bradford which became over dependant on the public sector under Labour. These are the places which got left behind in the boom and hit hardest by the recession.
"Bradford is a great city with fantastic potential, but we need to break our dependency and build a strong base of good sustainable jobs in the private sector so that we can stand on our own two feet in the future."
