David Ward supporting Heart UKDavid Ward MP is calling for coordinated action to improve post-event care for people who have suffered heart attacks.

Coronary heart disease is the cause of around 94,000 deaths in the UK each year. The mortality rate for this illness has reduced dramatically over recent years due to prompt care for patients after a heart attack and more specialist centres.

However, fewer than 50% of patients receive cardiac rehabilitation despite the fact that NICE guidelines recommend this is offered to all patients.

Commenting, David Ward said:

"The rate of deaths from Heart Disease in Bradford is 27% above the national average. Improving care for those who have suffered heart attacks is fundamental to saving lives.

The NHS, Public Health England and social care services need to work together to ensure patients get the care they deserve."
