David Ward MP has welcomed the news that the Rockwell Centre Users Group and Swain House Primary School have been successful in securing National Lottery funding.
The Rockwell Centre Users Group has received £9,870 from the Lottery's 'Awards for All' grants scheme, aimed at funding small, local community-based projects in the UK. The Rockwell Centre Users Group is a community organisation in Bradford, and it intends to use the money to run activity sessions for older people in the area, such as arts and crafts and group outings.
Swain House Primary School has received £4,300, also from the 'Awards for All' scheme. The school intends to use the money to improve its wildlife area, enabling other schools, community groups and members of the general public to access the wildlife area and learn about nature.
Commenting, David said:
"I'm delighted to hear that the Rockwell Centre Users Group and Swain House Primary School have been successful securing these grants.
The programmes organised and run by the Rockwell Centre Users Group will reduce isolation and give beneficiaries the opportunity of becoming involved in a range of social activities.
Swain House Primary School's wildlife area is an excellent way of teaching young pupils about the importance of conservation and sustainability, and I welcome the fact that it will now be accessible to the wider community."
