David Ward MP and Pete Waterman at the Yes to High Speed Rail rally
David Ward MP has taken part in a rally organised by the Yes to High Speed Rail Campaign to highlight the benefits of High Speed Rail for the Yorkshire region.
When completed the scheme will cut journey times between Leeds and the capital to just 80 minutes.
David was joined on the rally by the music producer and rail enthusiast Pete Waterman
Commenting, David said:
"High Speed Rail will be a huge boost for Bradford and other northern cities. It will bring us more than an hour closer to London which will bring in new investment, increase trade and most importantly create thousands of local jobs. High Speed rail is essential for the region - we cannot let it be sabotaged by a few nimbys in what are some of the wealthiest parts of the country."
Professor David Begg, Director of Yes to High Speed Rail said:
"It is fantastic to have David's support. Building a new high-speed rail line can be a part of solving some of the big questions facing this country today and in the future. This is why businesses and unions joined MPs from all parties today in London to campaign for high-speed rail."
