David Ward MP has today embarked on the first stage of a tour of the Bradford's High Streets to find out how the city's businesses are coping with the tough economic climate.
David will begin in Eccleshill and the Barkerend Area of Leeds Road where he will meet local business people and gather their views on Government policy and the recession. He will also be distributing a more detailed survey covering issues such as employment and training, taxes and parking.
Commenting, David said:
"Bradford's high streets have suffered more than most in the recession. Parts of Bradford have more empty shops than anywhere else in the country and this is a tragedy for the city's image, its economy and our communities.
"We need vibrant and diverse high streets where people will choose to their shopping. The Health Check is an opportunity for me to find out how businesses are coping, and what the Government can do to help them grow."
