MP seeks urgent talks after decision to close Idle Fire Station

David Ward is seeking urgent talks with the senior Fire Officers concerning proposals to be voted through on Friday to close a fire station in Idle.

David said,

"I am extremely concerned about these proposals. The report states there are fewer fires in Idle, Thackley, Bolton, Undercliffe and Eccleshill but there are still high risks at the businesses. It does not say anything about how the impact of these changes on people living in high rise flats or indeed how the new development in the Canal Road corridor has been taken into account."

"There is mention of a new station to address increased demand from Manningham but makes no mention of where it would be or indeed where the money would come from. These proposals are part of a big reduction in service for Bradford and the information about the future of the service very thin".

"I would urge everyone living in these properties to respond to the public consultation which starts on 7th September and ends on 30th November. I have the proposals available at my office, 460 Killinghall Road, Bradford BD2 4SL and I have made them available on my website should people wish to see them".
