Welcome to my website! DW Picture

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Since being elected as Bradford East's Lib Dem MP in May 2010, I have been kept busier than I ever believed possible. I've spoken to many constituents in my weekly surgeries - covering every possible subject, from apprenticeships to the Odeon cinema. I am grateful to everyone who voted for me in 2010 and I will continue to stand up for the hard-working people of Bradford in Parliament.

This website contains a lot more information about my work, both in Bradford and in Parliament, the campaigns I am involved in, as well as news from the Liberal Democrats across Bradford East.

David Ward MP listening to the views of local people

This year our Big Summer Survey is designed to: directly influence what happens in Government, to help vulnerable people, improve housing and bring jobs and investment to Bradford.

"As an MP, I meet many people who have experienced the care and support services. Some people receive good service, some poor, but the one thing all agree on is that it can be improved. I need your help to do that"
By filling in and returning this survey your voice will be heard right at the heart of Government. David Ward MP will be presenting the results of his survey to Parliament in the autumn. Everyone who replies will be invited to attend a summit in Bradford.

    Article: Jan 28, 2011

David has signed a Parliamentary motion calling on the Government to improve the safety testing of new drugs.

Although many medicines are essential and save lives, their side effects hospitalise a million Britons and kill more than 10,000 every year, making them one of our leading causes of death. Current methods rely on animal tests, which often create a false sense of security, as with Avandia and Vioxx, which both caused thousands of fatal heart attacks, despite animal tests which indicated that they would protect the heart.

Their own projections suggest that two million cheques will still be issued every day in the year cheques are supposed to be abolished. Some banks may withdraw cheque facilities on some of their accounts as early as next year.

Bradford MP, David Ward has expressed concern over changes to sports funding affecting School Sports Partnerships which he has called "successful" and "good value for money."

Under the Government's plans, money to fund sport in schools will no longer be ring-fenced. The money previously set aside for the sport will go into the schools budget, and head teachers will decide how much money to allocate towards sport.
