The Bradford North Area Committee is allocating £160,000 of money from its Area Initiative Fund to three projects; Nurture Rooms, Bradford East Community Enterprise and the Financial Services Apprenticeship Scheme.

Six schools have put in bids for Nurture Rooms which are used to help children who struggle to take part in school life because of emotional or behavioural difficulties. The Nurture Rooms will be develop to national standards.

Bradford East Community Enterprise project aims to help give intensive support to unemployed people, new entrepreneurs and developing businesses throughout the east Bradford area. They will develop a second 'hub' in Idle similar to the existing one at the Bradford Chamber Business Park in BD3

The Apprenticeship scheme will help fund a pilot scheme training 50 young people to enter the Financial Services sector. IFA businesses have expressed a wish to recruit younger people into the business to replace the older staff who are leaving.

Cllr David Ward , chair of the Area Committee said,

" I am looking for support from the Area Committee for these project because they are contributing both to increasing educational achievement among young children who have not had the best start in life and to providing help and training for young people moving into work. In the current economic climate, these are our top priorities ."

If you are a resident of the Bradford East constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
