David Ward welcomes the benefit that a high speed rail link will bring to West Yorkshire
David has enthusiastically welcomed the news that the Coalition Government has backed plans to bring High speed rail to Yorkshire. The decision will mean billions in economic benefits to the region.
On hearing the news David said "This is great news for Yorkshire the plan shows that the coalition government is serious about re-balancing the economy and providing the opportunities for the cities like Bradford to attract business and jobs"
The planned high speed rail line will go from London to Birmingham then split to serve Manchester and the west of England and Leeds and the East of England. Once it is up and running, the line will dramatically reduce journey times between London and West Yorkshire to just 80minutes.
Research by the west and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive showed that £60billion in standard Transport benefits and £2.3billion in productivity benefits would result from the building of the new line through Yorkshire.
David added "The high speed rail link will dramatically improve the economic outlook for West Yorkshire. Transport links like the High Speed rail plan will dramatically improve our ability to seek investment in Jobs and industry here in Bradford and West Yorkshire and make a significant contribution to reducing pollution and road congestion".
