David to ask tough questions on job creation

November 9, 2010 12:00 AM

David Ward MP will be playing a leading role in scrutinising the Coalition Government's industrial policy as part of the Business, Innovation and Skills Committee.

As a member of Parliament's influential business watchdog, David will today begin work on an inquiry into the support the new government is providing for industry at all levels.

Commenting, David Ward said:

"We are desperately in need of new private sector jobs here in Bradford. The Coalition Government needs to not only talk the talk in terms of supporting business growth but walk the walk in terms of creating the right environment for growth and releasing the brakes on enterprise"

"It is absolutely vital that the Coalition Government does everything it can to support businesses across the country in their bid for growth.

"The Coalition's plans need to address those parts of the economy which were left behind by the policies of the last government and in particular help places like Bradford which under the last Government became over dependent on the public sector and benefit handouts"

"I will be asking some difficult questions over the coming weeks to make sure that the Government's strategy will generate real sustainable new jobs for people in Bradford."

If you are a resident of the Bradford East constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
