David supports National Falls Prevention Week Roadshow in Bradford

June 22, 2011 11:07 AM

David Ward MP is backing Age UK's Training Bradford Falls Awareness Week 2011 Campaign, which is holding an event at St James' Church, Bolton Road this Friday (24th June) between 10am-4pm.

The road show seeks to help raise awareness of the devastating impact a fall can have and the basic steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of them.

Every year, more than three million people in the UK aged over 65, including half of those aged 80+, suffer a fall.

Commenting, David said:

"Having a fall can be a very painful and debilitating experience, and at the very least it can cause a bit of a scare. Age UK's Training Bradford National Falls Prevention Week seeks to help raise awareness of the simple steps that older people can take to reduce their risk of falls - things like getting an eye test and taking part in regular strength and balance exercises.

The road show at St James' is a great opportunity for local people to get some advice and to talk to specialists like opticians and physiotherapists about what they can do to reduce their risk of falls. I'm very pleased to be able to support the event and would encourage anyone who thinks they, or a family member, might benefit to attend."

If you are a resident of the Bradford East constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
