Bradford MP David Ward today welcomed the Government's commitment to fully fund the "Northern Hub" scheme as part of a £9bn package of rail investment announced today.
The project will create a direct link between Bradford and Manchester Airport and decrease journey times throughout the region.
It could create 20,000 - 30,000 new jobs and over £4.2 billion new economic benefits. That's £4 of economic benefit for every £1 invested.
Commenting, David Ward said:
"The Northern Hub will bring a great boost to the Bradford economy; creating jobs, skills, and growth. This is a really exciting opportunity and I look forward to seeing construction start.
"I am proud to say that the Liberal Democrats in Government are overseeing the biggest expansion in railways since the Victorian age, with over £18bn of investment. We will create a more effective and greener rail network, and make up some of the ground lost from Labour's underinvestment."
