“Northern Hub” rail scheme to bring jobs and growth to the region

Bradford MP David Ward today welcomed the Government's commitment to fully fund the "Northern Hub" scheme as part of a £9bn package of rail investment announced today. Bradford Rail

The project will create a direct link between Bradford and Manchester Airport and decrease journey times throughout the region.

It could create 20,000 - 30,000 new jobs and over £4.2 billion new economic benefits. That's £4 of economic benefit for every £1 invested.

Commenting, David Ward said:

"The Northern Hub will bring a great boost to the Bradford economy; creating jobs, skills, and growth. This is a really exciting opportunity and I look forward to seeing construction start.

"I am proud to say that the Liberal Democrats in Government are overseeing the biggest expansion in railways since the Victorian age, with over £18bn of ‪investment. We will create a more effective and greener rail network, and make up some of the ground lost from Labour's underinvestment."
