David WardOne of the first issues that came up in David's Bradford constituency surgery after he was elected in 2010 was the extraordinary cost of car insurance premiums across Bradford.
This was because between 2008 and 2012, the average comprehensive car insurance premium in the UK almost doubled from £650 in the 1st quarter of 2008 to £1,200 in the 1st quarter of 2012. Bradfordians were particularly hit hard with some being quoted premiums in excess of £25,000 to insure their vehicles caused in large part by:
This was a massive issue both for local people and local businesses that depended on using vehicles for their livelihoods.

Since that time, David's campaign for affordable car insurance premiums has been his most popular and longest running campaign.
David has been very vocal in Parliament and in Bradford, publishing two detailed research papers on the problem of car insurance, holding two car insurance summits in 2012 and 2014 and has been successful in lobbying the Government in introducing a catalogue of measures in order to reduce the cost of car insurance in Bradford and across the country.
David has been successful in not only helping to apply the brakes to the never-ending increase in premiums in Bradford but he has actually achieved a significant reduction of 27% in car insurance premiums between 2012 and 2014, saving hard working Bradfordians up to £170 each year on an average insurance premium.
