Welcome to my website! DW Picture

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Since being elected as Bradford East's Lib Dem MP in May 2010, I have been kept busier than I ever believed possible. I've spoken to many constituents in my weekly surgeries - covering every possible subject, from apprenticeships to the Odeon cinema. I am grateful to everyone who voted for me in 2010 and I will continue to stand up for the hard-working people of Bradford in Parliament.

This website contains a lot more information about my work, both in Bradford and in Parliament, the campaigns I am involved in, as well as news from the Liberal Democrats across Bradford East.

David Ward MP listening to the views of local people

This year our Big Summer Survey is designed to: directly influence what happens in Government, to help vulnerable people, improve housing and bring jobs and investment to Bradford.

"As an MP, I meet many people who have experienced the care and support services. Some people receive good service, some poor, but the one thing all agree on is that it can be improved. I need your help to do that"
By filling in and returning this survey your voice will be heard right at the heart of Government. David Ward MP will be presenting the results of his survey to Parliament in the autumn. Everyone who replies will be invited to attend a summit in Bradford.

Please help to get Bradford's voice heard in Government and complete the survey today.

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg and Treasury spokesman Vince Cable visited Bradford East today to support local champion David Ward and visit a manufacturing company badly let down by the banks.

The Lib Dem Battle Bus rolled into Bradford to hear the plight of Printing Roller Services in Caledonia Street, a six-man firm that refurbishes parts for printing machinery, which could not get a bank loan to invest in new machinery.

Enthusiastic supporters joined David on Thursday afternoon, and at Idle Working Men's Club on Friday evening, when he reminded them of 13 years of disappointing Labour Government, 19 years of silence by Bradford East's little known London-based MP and over 20 years of hard work and service as a local Councillor.

Local campaigners are delighted that improvements on a 'death trap' road have been finally given the go ahead.

A flash warning sign is to be installed on Bolton Road. Bolton and Undercliffe Councillor Howard Middleton said he was delighted that improvements were at last on their way.

He said: "We missed out on speed cameras. Apparently we've not had enough casualties despite the fatalities, but we are relieved to be getting the electric sign on such a dangerous bend and for the other improvements."

David Ward is the local champion who will speak up for Bradford in Westminster.

David's been a local Councillor for 25 years, is a Governor at two local schools and has a record of action for our area: he has an office in the heart of the constituency on Killinghall Road, has held hundreds of advice surgeries and helped thousands of people and groups solve problems. David believes that an MP should be the voice of Bradford's people in Parliament and that can only be done by being part of the community.

David Ward and the Liberal Democrats offer real, fair change for Bradford East.

Gordon Brown has asked the Queen to dissolve Parliament, triggering a general election that will take place on the 6th of May.

The Lib Dems will fight for fairness in taxes, raising the income tax threshold to ₤10,000, fairness in schools through the ₤2,500 pupil premium, a fair sustainable economy and fairness of representation, which includes the ability to sack corrupt MPs.

Gordon Brown has asked voters to "Take a second look at Labour". The Lib Dems know that they will be disappointed by what they find.

Labour's little-known London-based MP has voted to close Post Offices, support Gordon Brown's 10p tax hike and supported the war in Iraq. He has toed the Labour line and failed to speak out for Bradford in Westminster, never voting against the Government in favour of the people of Bradford East.

New research shows that the richest 10% of people are now 100 times better off than the poorest.

After thirteen years of a Labour Government, Britain has become less fair, not more fair.

David Ward said: "It's shocking that the gap between rich and poor is wider now than under Margaret Thatcher.

This leads of real unfairness. People's life chances are profoundly affected by how much money their parents earn and where they are born. Things have got to change."
